Maureen Gathoni
Program Manager (Governance, Gender & Accountability)
Maureen Gathoni is a conservation photographer from Kenya with three years of experience documenting the interconnected stories of people, wildlife, and conservation. Inspired by her mother, the first female ranger at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, she aims to document heroes like her who are driving change in conservation.
She has documented chimpanzee research, pangolin rescue, rehabilitation, and release in Uganda, as well as spotted hyena research in the Maasai Mara and collaborating closely with wildlife veterinarians. She has been featured at the Global Gala for Rhinos 2021 to help raise funds for rhino conservation.
Maureen has also captured the lives of female rangers balancing motherhood and professional roles, and the impact of neglected tropical diseases on women and girls in Kenya. Through her photography, she creates meaningful visual stories that inspire conservation and support environmental protection.
