NAKURU

Why Nakuru?

UNESCO named Nakuru to the Creative Cities Network in 2021 under Crafts and Folk Art, the only Kenyan city with that designation. Baraza spent months in the city listening through convenings, clinics and focused research, learning how ideas become work and reach audiences. We met makers and media teams who move between studios, classrooms and small stages and who asked for steady rooms, clear workflows and editors and peers within reach. The hub answers with practical space for production, small shows, editing and learning in one place, and a program built with local partners. Linked to Baraza’s other hubs, projects can travel when reach is needed while day to day practice stays rooted in Nakuru.

What’s on at the Lab?

Movie premieres roll out on weeknights as audiences meet the makers. Musical storytelling fills the room with live sets that carry narrative and sound as one. Filmmakers gather for masterclasses that move from idea to script to cut. Poetry nights give the mic to new and seasoned voices. Historical theatre brings the past into the present on a small stage that feels close and alive.

Host Your Event at Baraza Media Lab - Nakuru

Set your private gathering at C.K. Patel in the heart of the CBD where guests arrive with ease and the city feels close. The space suits living room acoustic sessions for your audience, trainings and masterclasses that run clean, outdoor receptions on the balcony with a city view, hands-on workshops, fireside chats, and more in a setting that feels considered and calm.
Our team is on site to welcome guests, handle check in, prepare rooms and sound, keep time, and smooth the details so your program flows. If your idea calls for a quiet room, a classroom layout, or a small screening, we tune the setup to fit so you can stay with the people in the room and the work you came to do.

A Space that Supports, Connects, and Grounds the Sanara Mission

The Nakuru hub hosts Sanara info days, partner meetups, and hands-on skills sessions in a setting made for training and care. We create room for learning across media and creative practice, with a mother’s room for feeding and rest, a quiet room for prayer, and a team that keeps the day steady. Our work extends beyond the CBD into neighborhoods and towns across the county so young women and men can take part close to where they live and work.
