What is Baraza Media Lab?

The Baraza Media Lab “Baraza” is a new initiative that will aim to serve as a crucial building block as we look to strengthen the Kenyan media ecosystem, work to rebuild trust amongst the key players in the ecosystem and the public, and put in place resources that will help address challenges being faced in terms of business models.

Where is Baraza Media Lab?

Baraza is located at Keystone Park along Riverside in Nairobi, providing an accessible location that makes content and spatial operations easier and allows us to capture a wider audience.

We are close to public transport networks. There are several parking options onsite and nearby.

How will the Lab support independent media?

Baraza will provide space and resources; carefully curated events and projects; be a place to explore alternative media ventures.

Is there a program schedule and calendar of events?

Baraza Media Lab aims to offer carefully curated set of events and projects to spark cross-disciplinary collaborations at a depth and scale not often witnessed in the Kenyan media ecosystem.

Will the lab serve all kinds of innovators/entrepreneurs apart from media?

Baraza Media Lab is open to all media practitioners – not only journalists, but also bloggers, writers, artists, filmmakers, cartoonists, social media experts, technologists, and other cross-disciplinary collaborators. 

How do I become a community member?

Baraza Media Lab will build first cohort of members, drawn from a diverse pool of media actors in Kenya.

I want to join Baraza Media Lab but I am not based in Nairobi. Can I join the Baraza Lab Community?

Yes! Our community caters for out-of-town members. You can easily purchase a day pass from the membership page

Does Baraza Media Lab offer dedicated workspaces?

We encourage community members to move through the common areas and engage with fellow members. We do not currently offer dedicated workspaces.

Can I be a Baraza Media Lab partner?

Yes! Partners who want to support this work and its expansion over time e.g. funders interested in media, programming partners and event co-creators & collaborators please get in touch via info@barazalab.com
