“A Groundbreaking Collaborative Project Tacking Mis & Disinformation in Kenya.”

About Us

Fumbua is a collective of media and media-related organizations committed to countering mis/dis-information through collaboration, debunking, training, amplification and advocacy. It was launched to tackle electoral mis/dis-information during the Kenyan 2022 General elections.

The next phase of our work against mis/dis-information goes beyond elections and looks into the financial and social impact of mis/dis-information. Our partners work collaboratively to promote responsible and ethical journalism through media literacy activities, ultimately improving the quality of information consumed by the public.

Areas of Focus

These are the pillars of all work done under Fumbua

The Misinformation Toolkit

A comprehensive accountability framework designed to provide a wealth of resources and strategies to help identify and address misinformation.

Editorial Guidelines

The Fumbua editorial guidelines have been carefully curated to prevent the spread of false information that could influence people’s choices and behaviour, or cause harm to individuals and society. To achieve this goal, Fumbua collaborates with partner organizations to repurpose and promote fact-checking efforts, as well as implement other project activities.

Campaign

Our mission is to raise awareness, educate on cyber security, and help people understand the accountability processes related to online gender-based violence. Through this campaign, we hope to create a safer and more inclusive online environment for everyone.
