Maureen Gathoni is a Kenyan conservation photographer focused on the relationship between people, wildlife, and environmental protection. Inspired by her mother, the first female ranger at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, she documents individuals working to safeguard ecosystems across East Africa.
Her work has followed chimpanzee research, pangolin rescue and rehabilitation in Uganda, and spotted hyena studies in the Masai Mara. Maureen frequently collaborates with wildlife veterinarians and conservation teams, creating visual narratives that reveal the realities of field conservation. She is particularly interested in the role of women in conservation, photographing female rangers balancing demanding work and family life. Her work has been presented internationally, including at the Global Gala for Rhinos.
